Due to the tight budget on this project, IKEA kitchen cabinets were chosen and all the original appliances were re-used, except for the range. The kitchen originally had a doorway leading in from the living room. That entire wall was removed, to create a more open and airy feel.
The wall between the kitchen and adjacent bedroom was removed and reconstructed, allowing the creation of larger closets on the bedroom side and cleaner lines on the kitchen side. The cabinets are a clean, pure white finish with simple stainless steel pulls, a green soapstone counter top and stainless steel sink. Green glass tile was used as a backsplash and the lighting was integrated above the upper kitchen cabinets.
A new green slate floor was also installed. A cat flap was installed into the corner cabinet, to house the little box for the owners cat. The walls around the range were lined with brushed stainless steel sheet, to deflect heat and make the area
easy to clean.
